Can't ECU finish 86th in the nation in defense without this guy from Minnesota?
The St. Paul Pioneer Press reports that Greg Hudson on Thursday resigned as defensive coordinator of the University of Minnesota football team. He will become defensive coordinator at East Carolina under new head coach Skip Holtz, a close friend.
The Gophers finished 86th in the nation in overall defense and ninth in the Big Ten Conference under Hudson this season. East Carolina ranked 111th in overall defense among the nation's 117 Division I-A football programs.
During Hudson's first full season as defensive coordinator in 2003, the Gophers finished fifth in the Big Ten in overall defense.
It turns out that Skip Holtz's wife, Jennifer, is godparent to Hudson's oldest son.
"Skip's probably my best friend in coaching," Hudson said. "How can you not work hard for your friends? This (decision) had very little to do with football. I have an opportunity to rekindle a friendship that I've had for 18 years. This is an opportunity. I have a great situation here (Minnesota) for myself and my family, and this potentially could improve that situation. That alone is the reason for my interest to go to another university."

Jesus H. Christ in a chicken basket, can't we try to hire someone who has talent instead of hooking our friends up? He even says the decision "has very little to do with football." What the fuck? A decision like this better have
EVERYTHING to do with football!
