Weird week three

This has been a strange week for me as a rejuvinated Pirate fan. The reality is that we're gonna be slaughtered Saturday. Yet, I still have hope that we can learn and build upon playing a very good Big East football team.

I want to believe that the loss we're about to receive will be more of an investment than the one we swallowed last year under JT's stewardship. I certainly want to believe that this coaching staff will do more with a loss than Steve "Jerkface" Logan ever did with one. Hell, Logan found ways cause damage with wins against good teams. Those victories all but guaranteed a loss to the 1-AA JV squad we were playing the following week.

So, here's what I want:
1- Let's see our defense (and their coaches) respond to the absolute vacuum of a run defense in last week's game by holding the Mountaineers to 200 yards on the ground. If they're going to beat us by three TDs, let it be in the air. If we do that, if we force them to change their offensive game plan, I'll claim a moral victory despite the final score.

2- At least 1 TD from Pinkney to Allison. Allison may be the real deal....we may see him playing sundays in a couple of years. Statistically he's the 3rd or 4th best receiver in college football right now.

3- We will likely be punting a lot. If so, let's give them crappy field position all day long. These are the games that even if you lose, you can work on the fundementals and prepare for the next game and the next year. Teach them well Oh Bie Skip.

4 - Cover the spread. Robb needs the money. He's been donating all disposible income to Katrina relief efforts. He's earned the right to take Saturday's ECU winnings to the nearest hoochie coochie show and blow off some, er, steam.
