If we beat Southern Mississippi this weekend, then I predict we go to a bowl game. We may even go if we don't beat USM.
Here's my thinking: C-USA has a ridiculous amount of bowl tie-ins -- five. Since teams with six wins (even at .500) are bowl-eligible, the Pirates only need three wins out of five games to get to a bowl. Given the length of time since our last bowl game (six years, right?) and given how well our fans travel, we're a lock for one of these bowl games. If you're on a bowl selection committee, ECU looks like a great choice regardless of our overall record.
CollegeFootballNews agrees. Right now, they predict we'll be in the New Orleans Bowl on Dec. 22. I'll be there.
