Season predictions...

First off....Ron, you make some very reasoned points regarding Pinkney's abilities. Perhaps the Jones boys were a little harsh. Here are our joint predictions for the remainder of the Pirate season:

Greg & Matt:

  • 09/12/09 at West Virginia [ predict: ECU 24, WVU 21] Close game...Pinkney drives for a TD in last 2 minutes.

  • 09/19/09 at North Carolina [ predict: UNC 35. ECU 20 ] It's payback for Butch Davis who revs up his well oiled machine against the Pirate D.

  • 09/26/09 vs. UCF [ predict: ECU 21, UCF 20 ] UCF is having an up year, the Pirate defense bends but doesn't break.

  • 10/03/09 at Marshall [ predict: Marshall 17, ECU 16] Marshall circled this game in August. ECU loses a close one.

  • 10/10/09 at SMU [ predict: ECU 45, SMU 7 ] Late TD against Pirate 7th stringers mars shutout. The win restores the swagger in Pirate Nation.

  • 10/17/09 vs. Rice [ predict: ECU 28, Rice 3 ] Rice is a starch....not a football team.

  • 10/27/09 at Memphis [ predict: ECU 31, Memphis 10 ] Greg and Matt celebrate victory by rolling 31 straight points at the craps table after the game. (btw, Ron and Robb...why don't you join us in Memphis?)

  • 11/05/09 vs. Virginia Tech [predict: ECU 20, Virginia Tech 13 ] This ECU team is special, to prove it we beat Tech two years in a row. The rivalry ascends to a new level.

  • 11/15/09 at Tulsa [ predict: ECU 17, Tulsa 9 ] Our defense has broken the code on their air attack. They really want to beat us next year.....

  • 11/21/09 vs. UAB [ predict: ECU 28, UAB 10 ] UAB likes to play the spoiler role to the Pirates....not this year a-holes.

  • 11/28/09 vs. Southern Miss [ predict: ECU 20, USM 19 ] We're finally better than them, we're home, and this is a must win game....the victory sends us to the title game.

  • Conference USA Championship Game [ predict: ECU 27, Houston 24 ] We become the first back-to-back C-USA champions....a feat recognized on the covers of SI, ESPN the Magazine, Newsweek, Cat Fancier and Hustler.

Total for season: ECU 11-2, with a Liberty bowl bid to play LSU.
