Clemson legend Danny Ford is considering an offer to become East Carolina’s football coach, according to a source familiar with the discussions.
Ford has declined to discuss his future other than to say he is uncertain what he wants. On Tuesday evening, Ford told a reporter to contact him in two days for more information.
“Let’s not put the cart before the horse,” he said.
According to the source, Ford realizes East Carolina is a “monumental task” and wants to make sure he has the energy and commitment to be successful.
Former Maryland basketball coach Lefty Driesell, a close friend of Ford and East Carolina athletics director Terry Holland, has acted as an intermediary. Former South Carolina assistant coach Skip Holtz also is considered a leading candidate after his campus interview Tuesday.
