Ex-ECU coach dies at 92

The Associated Press reports that James Archie "Jim" Johnson Jr., who resurrected East Carolina's sports teams after World War II as the school's athletics director and coach, died Saturday in Virginia Beach, Va. He was 92.

He coached baseball, basketball and football with no assistants, no scholarships and no scouting, according to his biography in the East Carolina University Hall of Fame, where he was inducted in 1978.
