Checking for a Pulse

Figured someone needed to make a post before this shared blog was announced dead. So, it seems that our baseball team will make the NCAA field...barring a complete meltdown during the stretch here. Not as good as hoped at 27-15 (3rd in C-USA), but good enough and hopefully peaking toward the end here. It was an ugly series win at home to Marshall, but we'll take it. Losing to NCSU twice with Wolfpack 9th inning rallies sux, too, but as long as we keep the NCAA streak alive, I will be happy.

On the football front, spring game was an even tilt. Don't know if that means that our defense will be much improved or if our offense will not be as good. Several key players were missing for all or part of the spring including, Aundrae Allison, Marcus Hands, Chris Johnson, and Bobby Good. Also, it looks like former ECU OL Guy Whimper has taken advantage of his 1 year as an offensive lineman, as his stock is soaring as the NFL heads into its annual amateur draft.

Our women's golf team won the C-USA Championships and will compete in the NCAA tournament under new coach - and not bad looking - Kim Llewellen, who finished 4th in some golf reality show recently.

Basketball assistant head coach Mack McCarthy appears to be looking to join some 5 players who jumped ship following another horrible basketball season. He is actively pursuing another opportunity, at University of Tennessee. He was the guy I was hoping would turn ECU around. How bad is it that ECU can't find five or six decent hoops players. Winthrop, UNC-G, UNC-W, all seem to be able to figure it out. Geeesh!

Anyway, just wanted to jump start our waning website.
