Last but not least, my picks

In keeping with Pirate Booty tradition, here goes my picks:

Sept 2: @ Navy L, 28-21 (0-1) I hate that my son's first ECU game will likely be a loss, but with 17 starters back on a Paul Johnson football team at home, I think it is too tall a task to ask the Pirates to win this won. I think that our defense will not be able to hold up to the attack Navy will put on us, but it will be a great growth experience that will help us for the remainder of the year. That said, myself, Robb (aka, the Godfather) and Vinny will have a blast.

Sept. 9: @ UAB W, 35-10 (1-1) Our offense will be much improved, but our defense will not pitch any shutouts this year. I think we start out the C-USA slate right and Pinkney has a field day through the air.

Sept. 16, Memphis W, 28-21 (2-1) In a make up for what should have been our 6th win last year, the Pirates finish this one and get the win.

Sept. 23, West Virginia L, 42-28 (2-2) WVU has this game circled as the upset special. They should be undefeated coming in to Greenville and will be out to prove last year was a fluke. We have only beat them twice and i don't think number 3 will come this year.

Oct. 7, Virginia W, 28-14 (3-2) Pirates stay perfect against the Cavs by beating them. It is a breakout game that the Pirates must have to set up a run to a bowl game.

Oct. 14, Tulsa W, 35-31 (4-2) ECU beats Tulsa in a close one at home coming off a lift win over UVA.

Oct. 21, Southern Methodist W, 45-10 (5-2) SMU was a mediocre team last year and though better, are not going to be better enough to beat a rolling ECU team at home.

Oct. 28, @ Southern Miss L, 21-17 (5-3) USM owns our ass...this team has no player on it who knows how to beat Southern Miss. Won't change this year. A 5-2 ECU team finds a way to lose to their arch nemesis.

Nov. 4, @ Central Florida W, 35-24 (6-3) Not this time. Pirates play mistake free football and send O'Leary to the nearest bar that hangs a shamrock in the window.

Nov. 11, Marshall W, 31-21 (7-3) At home, Pirates will win this one. ECU will not lose to Marshall again in the series as long as any one remembers that fargin bowl loss.

Nov. 18, @ Rice W, 55-21 (8-3) Put it this way...Rice is no Navy. Navy loss will pay dividends in a Rice blowout win.

Nov. 25, @ N.C. StateL, 35-28 (8-4) Fans want this one too bad and might even be facing a mediocre Wolfpack team in terms of record. With a bowl game already lined up, the Pirates find a way to lose to a team whose fans talk way too much garbage for what they have accomplished on the field in Chuck The Chest's tenure.

There it is...the cup half full prognosis...
