Apparently, getting quarterback James Pinkney back was a pretty good boon to the offense. He had some academic problems earlier in the year, but he's gotten it all straightened out. Perhaps, it will be a character building experience for him.
Speaking of quarterbacks, I'd like to have one at East Carolina who won't make stupid mistakes. I'll always remember that Marshall bowl game when David Garrard ran out of bounds with less than a minute to play. If he'd just stayed in bounds, he could have depleted the clock. Instead, we punted; Marshall won.
Speaking of Garrard, he made the Top Plays on ESPN last night. They even mentioned his alma mater. Unfortunately, his pass was a little off the mark, tipped by the defense, but ultimately caught by surprised Jacksonville receiver. Not the best way for a East Carolina alum to show up on the highlight reel.
By the way, I find it quite sad that it made my night to hear the words "East Carolina" on ESPN.
